Diocese of Nottingham: Bishop's page
Working together with him, then, we entreat you not to accept the grace of God in vain. For he says, "At the acceptable time I have listened to you, and helped you on the day of salvation." Behold now is the acceptable time; behold now is the day of salvation. (2 Cor 6:1-2) Following the culmination of the Diocesan Assembly process (details of which can be found on this website) numerous ‘conversations’ have taken place across the County Areas, an aspect of concern was ‘communication’ in its many forms and the opportunities which technology can provide to share resources and information. The Diocesan Assembly Office is currently looking closely at the way communications are made and received. As a result, it is their concern that this site (still under development) is kept as up-to-date as possible with information and links added as required from the suggestions received. As a diocese we have together discussed the importance of recognizing that all ministry is based on ‘giftedness and working together. ‘Collaborative ministry’ brings together many gifts to accomplish the mission of Jesus. The goal of collaboration is to discover ways to identify release, utilise and unify the gifts of all baptised Christians. The 1985 Extraordinary Synod of Bishops affirmed this challenge and exhorted all the faithful to "participation and co-responsibility at all levels." Across the Nottingham Diocese, we are attempting to encourage men and women to minister more harmoniously: Parish priests and parish teams to develop greater collaborative skills and neighbouring parishes to combine efforts to meet pastoral needs. To share good practice we are encouraging organisations to discover ways to work together to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ more effectively. It is our hope that all who access and explore this site may find information and links to resources that will be of help as we go forward and share the Good News together.
