Hi De Lisle and Mr Olivere (I used to be in your form group)!!!! Well, it seems like only yesterday when I left - yet I've done sooo much since I left. Just got back from working on the Costa Magica as a singer and dancer. Going to have a few months off teaching dance, singing and drama at some colleges and schools and then go back on the cruise ship for autumn and winter so that I miss the horrible cold weather yay! Hope all is well with everyone, with Love David xx
By the way - check out my new website
Hi David - Good to hear from you. I am still here. If you ask me nicely I might even be able to find a photo of you at 11!- Mr O |

I was starting my fourth year at DeLisle when my parents decided to emigrate to the United States of America. It was a awesome school and I did miss all my friends. I still have all my report cards and all the nice notes and well wishes and comments my fellow students and the teachers wrote.
I used to come back to England and Loughborough I lot more than I can now, but it will always be HOME to me. As the train approaches Loughborough Station and I see the Carillon, I know I'm home.
I was so happy to find the Delisle website and when I looked at the photos, I didn't recognize a lot of them either. Time does fly and change things, but it doesn't change memories or what's in one's heart.
I often wonder what happened to my classmates, so it was nice to see some of their names on the reunion attendance sheet.
Greetings and good health to all from Connecticut, USA. |

Anyone remember the swinging sixties?
We were the first sixth form at Delisle and owe a great deal to Mr Harrison who was Head at the time!
I would be pleased to hear from Staff and pupils, who were at Delisle during this period. |

Thought I'd leave a message to say Hi.I miss De Lisle, one big happy family. My time at De Lisle was filled with fun, laughter and friendships, friendships that are still strong today.
The teachers are brilliant and helped me to achieve getting the grades I wanted in GCSE's,which in turn has given me the opportunity to chase my dream of becoming a teacher.I am now starting college on 7th Sept to do childcare and education to fulfil my dream. My dream wouldnt be possible without the excellent teaching of the staff at De Lisle.
I came in to help on the enterprise day on July 3rd 2009,it was a very enjoyable experience and one I want to thank you for letting me come in and work with you.The staff and students a like are so friendly and welcoming...If you have another enterprise day and it doesnt clash with my college I'd love to help again, please let me know! :) I wrote a poem for the 50th anniversary of De Lisle and Mrs Badock said she was going to use it for the display, was it used?
Anyway I want to say thank you for my journey through de lisle and thank you to Mrs Mulrain who inspired me to want to become a maths teacher. Thanks to all the teachers. Lots of love Jenni xxxxx |

Hi there to everyone who was fortunate enough to attend this school.
It's nice to take a trip down memory lane and in so doing mention a few Difference Makers.
The person who drilled me the most with the "I can" attitude was Mr Shaw-Brown (Maths). Have any of you heard of the teacher who dressed as a German officer and sent all the Italians to the back of the dinner line. Or the guy who'd take your books and throw them out of the window if you weren't listening or paying attention. This guy gave us tests every lesson promising that if everyone got all the answers right we'd skip the lesson and go for a walk. We couldn't believe it the day Sean C. finally got his tables’ right and we all went for a walk round the village! (Anyone remember?)I remember of special note Mr Johnson P.E., Miss Eileen O Reilly (R.E.), Mr Cole (physics), they were all positive teachers who inspired pupils to give their best. Miss Head (maths) , Mrs Briers (maths) , Mr Blackburn (geography),Miss Litting (French), Mr Ollivère (form / Art) His and our first year! , Mr Everly (English), Mr Stewart "The Giant" (English / p.e.), Mr Aspinal (P.E.), Mr Harrison (head) Mr Kennedy (Head), Miss Moore (history), Mr Johnson (science), Mrs Hall (science) Mr Wilbraham (R.E.. Mr Murphy (head of year),Mr Hammond (head of year), Mr Lawson (music), Mrs Higginbotham (geography),Mr Dugan (R.E.) Great actor/singer too. Miss Maria Greenoff (art), Mr Stubbs (Woodwork) There are many more whose names I don't remember but who deserve equal mention here for putting up with some of us. And some teachers with which we had to put up with! I remember friends Mark Wilbraham, Kevin Wainwright, Micheal (??Bond???), Manuel Seoane, Matthew Baker, Toni Sola, Enzo Lalo, James Jones, Giovanni Giampalma, Mauro Cagol.
I'll gladly write to anyone who sends me a mail.
All the best Raf. Drop me a line. |

Ok, so this is really quite weird for me to be writing to, potentially my former School buddies!
Alot of people used to know me as "Chin", infact everyone in my entire year used to know me as that particular name, i didn't mind it so much, it made me feel part of something huge!
Anyway I've changed my name now, just to my middle name, but its changed. I'm now living in Edinburgh, way up in the north of our fair nation!
I graduated from Uni last year 2007 and I am now a fully fledged Musician/Teacher.
My friends and I were going to start a Band if I remember rightly, I was going to play drums, Robin on Bass, Alexis on Guitar and Fabi on Vocals, I wonder if any of those nutters actualy continued to play when they left school!?
Anyway I'm out, if anyone remembers lil ole me, write me, it'd be ace to hear from you...
Miss Kitty. Aka, Chin, lol! x x |

I have great memories of my years at Delisle and the minor acts of rebellion that seemed so important at the time. I'd like to say hello to any of the teachers that remember me, although since its been a good 17 odd years I'm not sure any will remain -
Mrs Foster, Mr Johnson, Mr Stuart, Mr Hammond, Mrs Dockray and the incomparable Terry Everley. (sadly missed) Athough I sadly didnt attend the 6th form I still ended up with a Law degree, an MSc and am preparing to study an MBA so I must have picked up something along the way! After many years abroad I currently work in Manchester as an IT consultant... Hope the old school is still going strong.. |

Just wanted to say how much we enjoyed the open evening last night. Eventhough it's 19 years since I left time has been very kind to the remaining teachers, still as they were! My daughter came away feeling excited and very positive about the school. I think by the end of the night she was sick of mum and dad telling her of our times in the school! Well done everyone and good to see De Lisle in such good shape. |

I did send a message a couple of months ago to find out if anyone is planning a reunion for the 50th anniversary of the opening of the school. Or if the School itself is planning any celebrations to mark the occasion. I was at the school on the first day of opening and two of my granddaughters are now pupils at the school.
There are plans to celebrate our 50th but nothing has been fixed yet.

Looking at the web site and through some of the pictures I don't recognise any of it, but I can remember how it was when I was there. I remember most of the teachers I doubt if any are still there,Mr Harrison the head master, Mr shaw-Brown Science,Mrs Moore history, Mrs Johnson Maths, Dr boobyer Science, Miss preistly French, and many more and last but not least my fav teacher was the late Mr Everley. I have very special memories of this school and some of the tricks me and my mates got up to well what can I say. It would be nice to go and have a look around perapes one day.

Since leaving De Lisle it's really strange how the connection with the school keeps alive. Quite often you are out and about and you often remember a face then after digging deep along comes the name!
I am married to Emma Lillyman (ex De Lisle) and have three beautiful girls Lauren(10) Erin(7) and Grace(5). Really scary to think next year Lauren will be starting De-Lisle. I just hope and pray that the remaining teachers from the 80's cant think back that far! Happy days! |
